Our client, Better Cotton, is the world's largest cotton sustainability programme. Its mission is to help cotton communities survive and thrive whilst protecting and restoring the environment by partnering with stakeholders along the entire global cotton value chain.

Over a quarter of the world's cotton is now grown under the Better Cotton standards, and they operate in 23 countries.

Following an exciting rebrand and launch of an ambitious 2030 strategy, the position of Senior Manager - Chain of Custody & Traceability Manager will play a critical role in advancing and maintaining advancing integrity across the various stages of global cotton supply chains.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Own and improve the chain of custody protocol, and manage its implementation through systematic identification of areas for development and implementation of needed change. The supply chain compliance scheme documents will be your responsibility to own and rigorously manage

  • Develop a strategy for supply chain integrity considering risk-based approaches and in collaboration with the Membership and Supply Chain Director

  • Create and drive forward a plan for introducing self-assessments for organisations who are implementing the Better Cotton Chain of Custody, with the aim of building capacity in the supply chain

  • Collaborate closely with Better Cotton's international teams across a variety of tasks, including reporting supply chain compliance activities, developing training for BCI staff, reviewing training approaches and materials, and resolving and/or escalating issues such as non-compliance. This is with the main priority of maintaining the credibility of Better Cotton sourcing and claims

  • Provide supervision, support, and management internally to Better Cotton staff in regional or international offices, who will support you with the chain of custody implementation, globally

You will benefit from having the following:

  • Demonstrated experience with standard-setting in voluntary standard systems

  • Knowledge of sustainable sourcing using different chain of custody models, responsible sourcing, supply chain compliance to the chain of custody, and traceability

  • A passion for change management and process innovation and a drive to make positive change

  • Experience in an international setting and confidence with delivering projects across several regions, involving multi-stakeholder management

  • Proven leadership qualities such as team management, project delivery and supply chain process improvement
