You are:

  • Currently a highly experienced climate change practitioner, having worked in and across various businesses or sectors on solutions-focused approaches to a wide range of Environmental, Social and Governance challenges.

  • Have first-hand experience engaging externally to develop solutions and recommendations to mitigate climate challenges across a value chain.

  • Have learned from mistakes as well as successes, you have developed excellent emotional awareness around how it takes more than individual expertise to achieve real systemic change.

  • Know how to lead climate scenario analysis work in accordance with the TCFD recommendations

As the Climate Change Engagement Manager you will be:

  • Participating in the Expert Advisory Group for the steel sector decarbonisation approach with Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi)

  • Working with the business to developing a science-based target for validation

  • Leading climate scenario analysis work in accordance with the TCFD recommendations

  • Developing a detailed understanding of Scope 3 emissions and working with the business on its decarbonisation to net zero

  • Engaging standard setting bodies on the definition of "green" steel

  • Leading work with multi-stakeholder bodies decarbonisation approaches across the value chain

  • Contributing to the wider sustainable development agenda

You would need to appreciate and respect how to work with a centrally devolved, highly-entrepreneurial business which empowers its people from the ground up, combining this with a level of humility required to leverage and guide a high profile, well-respected executive leadership team, to help its business reach the forefront of sustainability best-practise.

You'll be a climate change practitioner with strong communication skills, a strategic approach with a track-record of climate change delivery work, and a broad mining, manufacturing or metals background.
