Acre is working with a leading global high street retailer to add capacity to an expanding, progressive Global Environmental Sustainability team. The business has a long-term commitment to addressing the climate change agenda, through minimising the impact of its operations, and are recruiting for a Climate Change Programme Manager, to measure, coordinate, baseline and reduce the organisation's overall greenhouse gas emission.
Reporting to the Environmental Sustainability Manager, you will work in a controlling and coordination capacity across all business functions, engaging, advising and influencing to take ownership and action against climate targets.
Responsibilities:
Working with key functions such as Retail, Sourcing, Logistics, Finance and Procurement to establish baseline scope 1 and scope 2 emissions
Estimating supply chain (scope 3) emissions to help understand the carbon impacts of manufacturing products, raw materials, logistics and business travel
Developing a climate action programme in collaboration with business stakeholders to establish business-wide action plans, processes and procedures
Leading a comprehensive consultation and engagement programme to ensure business functions are aware of and taking action against climate targets
Engaging with the wider sector as mandated by the UNFCCC Charter
The successful candidate will be a self-starting team-player, with a strong technical background in carbon accounting, and exceptional engaging and influencing skills.
In addition, you will have:
Either consultancy or in-house experience, ideally both, in baseline emissions calculations
Experience in developing climate strategies and road maps for consumer brands
Excellent communication and engagement skills, able to engender trust and foster collaboration
Knowledge of anthropogenic climate change and current trends seen in the impacts of climate change on ecosystems and the availability of natural resources
Prior participation in external engagements relating to climate change
