Planet Tracker is a non-profit financial think tank aligning capital markets with planetary boundaries. It was created primarily for the investor community to analyse the risk of market failure related to environmental limits which, other than climate change, are often not aligned with investor capital. Planet Tracker generates breakthrough analytics to redefine how financial and environmental data interact with the aim of changing the practices of financial decision makers to help avoid both environmental and financial failure.
Planet Tracker is seeking a Company Analyst who will be tasked with undertaking detailed company level financial research with a particular focus initially on consumer goods and forestry companies seeking to identify material financial market exposures to planetary boundary related risks and opportunities. These exposures are assessed across institutional investors, listed corporates and a wide range of financial services groups.
The three primary streams of research will be financial investment, climate change transition and natural capital analysis. The analysis will be delivered in the form of regular (quarterly) reports to clearly define the environmental and social impact of the companies concerned looking to identify environmental impacts with initial and particular focus on carbon emissions and laying out transition pathways. The Investment Analyst will be responsible for in-depth data gathering and research production. This will include synthesis of findings and writing of reports for external delivery to the finance community as well as a variety of audiences (e.g. media, civil society, regulators). In addition there may be engagement responsibilities including speaking in webinars, at launches, on panels and having meetings with FIs, civil society partners, funders and the media.
The Investment Analyst will:
Scope, conceptualise, and support the delivery of company research including, but not limited to, in-depth data analysis on companies, financial securities (equity, debt, commodities) and market-based regulation;
Undertake comprehensive analysis of corporate shareholdings and articulate the critical material environmental risks posed to these positions;
Support Planet Tracker research in general and across all programmes from time to time and ensure production of regular, high-quality reports;
Minimise environmental impact in the performance of the role;
A candidate for this position must have the following skills and attributes:
Demonstrable experience of company level financial analysis

Strong analytical skills demonstrated through research outputs produced over time
