Our client is a communications company based in California, with additional operations across the United States and worldwide. They are a provider of high-speed satellite broadband services and secure networking systems covering military and commercial markets.

This is an exciting role for a detail-oriented project manager, looking to make a difference in the field of environment and sustainability. This role requires strong project management skills and close collaboration with internal stakeholders and outside partners to ensure ongoing compliance and risk management. They will be responsible for the creation and management of project plans with long and short-term timelines and with an understanding of prioritizing resources and tasks.

Job Responsibilities

  • In depth knowledge of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) across multiple sites and countries

  • Experience managing multi-site ISO 14001:2015 certification as part of the overall EMS framework

  • Experience with greenhouse gas accounting, goal setting and improvement projects to meet targets

  • Experience managing complex projects and audit programs

  • Strong technical understanding of Environmental issues, life cycle thinking, and their relationship to production/engineering and other job functions

Requirements

  • Support the development and maintain the overall ownership and execution at the corporate level for the Environmental Management System (EMS)

  • Ownership and accountability for the ISO 14001:2015 certification program

  • Ownership of all environmental data that falls within the corporate global EMS

  • Partner directly with the Corporate Sustainability Manager to ensure the reporting and certification data requirements are met

  • Create and collate environmental and sustainability key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, produce relevant reports and initiate targeted prevention programs in conjunction with the EHS, sustainability, and wider functional and operational teams

  • Establish and maintain Environmental and Sustainability KPIs for relevant contractors and other supply chain partners

  • Formal audit notification and approval process for ISO 14001 and GRI reporting environmental data

  • Provides direction, oversight, and career development to one or more environmental specialists

  • Active sponsor for implementation of environmental aspects as they pertain to corporate improvement opportunities

  • Coordination of training of personnel to support audits

  • Database of sustainability audit requirements including audit protocol, standards, schedule and contract terms

  • Tracking of corrective actions to closure

  • Ongoing communications with internal and external interested parties including account teams, internal management and customers

  • Update ISO 14001 EMS and project scope to align with updated corporate sustainability

  • Manage relationships with cross functional teams (supply chain, EHS, corporate quality, facilities, etc.) in order to further collaborative sustainability and/or EMS improvements

  • Define applicability of national and international regulatory requirements through processes and controls

  • Build effective relationship with key regulatory stakeholders

Preferences

  • Master's Degree in environmental science, policy or related field

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities

  • A passion for sustainability and social responsibility and an in depth understanding of the global context, various stakeholders, concerns and impacts related to this discipline

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI
