Our investment client provides independent advice on M&A, strategy and equity and debt financing, as well as investment and wealth management solutions.They are looking for a senior investment professional who can drive their active ownership strategy across their Wealth Management business.

Primary Purpose:

  • The primary purpose of this newly created role is to develop and drive the active engagement strategy, with a specific focus on their direct equity holdings.

  • The candidate will work closely with the equity analyst team and focus on direct engagement with senior management of investee companies on sustainability issues.

  • This individual could potentially grow into a portfolio management role for their sustainable investment strategies

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all aspects of the active ownership strategy

  • Lead and structure company engagements

  • Initiate collaborative engagement with other investors and stakeholders, where appropriate

  • Ongoing monitoring and documentation of progress on engagement to defined milestones

  • Analyse, propose and document decisions on proxy votes

  • Participate in industry activities to stay up to date on new developments and best practices

  • Participate in client meetings to provide updates on active engagements and the stewardship strategy

  • Create presentation material for clients and client advisors relating to stewardship activities

  • Support the preparation of UN PRI filing, annual ESG report and annual Stewardship Code report.

  • This also involves peer competitor analysis to identify company weaknesses and opportunities to improve.

  • Effectively communicate the company's efforts to the different stakeholders and create an industry network to share best practices.

  • Contribute to idea generation for their sustainable investment strategies

Skills and requirements:

  • Experience in corporate governance, stewardship and Sustainability.

  • Experience in equity research

  • Engagement experience across a variety of markets and ESG topics

  • Strong understanding of sustainability issues and how they relate to financially relevant investment outcomes

  • Clear interest and passion for Sustainability and improving company and industry performance

  • Confidence and experience in conducting meetings with senior executives of investee companies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective stakeholder management

  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills

  • University degree
