Director of Technology

Acre is working with the globally leading clean technology, clean energy and industrial decarbonization investment engine in search of a Technology Director to lead technical due diligence in various industrial decarbonization sectors. Our client invests in and helps construct/commercialize novel technologies in the Clean Hydrogen, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Direct Air Capture (DAC), Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) and hard-to-abate manufacturing sectors.

The Technology Director will be responsible for detailed engineering analysis evaluating the commercial viability of pilot scale technologies and ultimately will be the technical backbone of the organization driving decisions on which technologies our client invests in/helps commercialize now and in the future. The level of impact this position offers to global technology advancement is vast.

Based in either Houston, Texas, or New York City, the Technology Director is responsible for…

• Project sourcing efforts evaluating new technologies to explore

• Travelling to pilot plants and demonstration sites to evaluate technology feasibility, scalability, constructability and risks.

• Detailed engineering analysis on prospective projects (pilot data review, heat & mass balance calculations, PFDs, supply chain, etc.)

• Prepare robust presentations and deliver them to the Board of Directors presenting final recommendations on technology

From an experience standpoint, they are looking for someone with…

• A highly analytical mindset with a PhD in Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Physics with 5-10 years' industrial experience (startup experience preferred)

• Experience working on Sustainable Aviation Fuel technology is highly desirable, but work in green or blue hydrogen, LDES, DAC or cement/steel/clean chemicals is also interesting.

• An unmatched ability to very clearly convey extremely technical topics to non-technical teams

• Proven experience executing technology due diligence studies and a deep understanding of what process technology scale-up barriers are and how to mitigate them
