Position Summary:

As the Director of the Technical Team, you will lead a diverse group of professionals in providing technical input and design guidance for large-scale landscape restoration projects, including certified carbon projects. You will ensure program quality aligns with Eden's monitoring and evaluation standards and coordinate the development of technical documentation and submissions to external standards organizations for certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Management: Lead and supervise the Technical Team, ensuring the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and restoration frameworks.

  • Technical Assistance: Oversee the development of standards and systems for restoration, ensuring compliance with external technical standards.

  • Program Coordination: Work closely with regional and country offices to support the implementation of restoration strategies and operating plans.

  • Representation: Represent Eden at international events, conferences, and in networking with restoration/conservation organizations, donors, and research institutions.

  • Budget Management: Plan, manage, and report on the Technical Team's budget.

Essential Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's preferred).

  • Experience: At least 10 years of relevant experience in program/project design, training, capacity building, and international work.

  • Skills: Advanced technical skills in landscape restoration, carbon project development, and community development. Proficiency in monitoring, reporting, and verification processes.

  • Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required; proficiency in KiSwahili, Spanish, or French is preferred.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel to challenging environments, sometimes for several weeks.

Work Environment:

  • Remote position with global responsibilities.

  • Requires a commitment to work in a global asynchronous team.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and maintain overall mobility.

  • Legal authorization to live and work in the country of residence.

Location: Remote (Global Responsibilities), ideally East Coast USA-based.

Travel Requirement: Up to 30% (International and US)
