Acre has partnered with a highly entrepreneurial private equity firm with a strong focus on industrial technology and innovation in identifying an ESG leader to evolve and mature its strong ESG culture and programming as well as push a more innovative approach and strategy at both portfolio and asset level.

Our client is seeking an ESG Analyst who will play an integral role in institutionalizing and growing a fully integrated and innovative ESG function across the business. Reporting to the ESG Director, this analyst will support and evolve ESG policy best practice at a portfolio level, all while further institutionalizing the function by supporting investment colleagues with the insights, methodologies and processes required to enable deepened ESG fluency across the group and further integration into all aspects of the investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

ESG Monitoring, Reporting, and Evaluation

  • Establish ESG best practices, including analysis, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of ESG criteria performance across portfolios, aligning procedures with global standards, such as GRI, CDP, SASB, and/or TFCD.

  • Compile and maintain comprehensive databases of ESG topics and trends to support integration and investment lifecycle evaluation approaches of such ESG factors.

ESG Implementation and Integration:

  • Liaise with portfolio company POCs to capture and report on best practices, operational projects, and results

  • Coordinate ESG work-streams across the Firm, collaborating with portfolio companies, NGOs and vendors to ensure consistency, integration and timely outcomes.

Research and Engagement:

  • Monitor and benchmark ESG reporting trends and changes to reporting standards, providing insights and recommendations on advancing internal and external reporting practices.

  • Support stakeholder engagement with research and quantitative analysis on ESG themes, producing presentations, contributing to the development and execution of stewardship processes, data analytics, and reporting.

  • Assist the ESG Director in the execution of operational value creation initiatives at portfolio companies, including assisting with operational plan execution (data analysis, research, and other support work).

Experience Sought

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, business or ESG-related discipline; MBA preferred.

  • 2 years of prior work experience in an ESG, manufacturing or engineering-related position where requirements included transfer of technical/complex information and knowledge to non-technical recipients.

  • Strong project management skills; excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interface with leadership and individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong attention to detail, and strong analytical, problem-solving and organization skills.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative; ability to prioritize and re-prioritize in a fast-paced setting to meet internal and external deadlines, including willingness to work longer hours during peak periods.

  • Responsive, agile, self-driven, and passionate team player; self-motivated to learn new concepts, identify problems, and develop and implement solutions.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills (including lookups and pivot tables), PowerPoint, and Word. Knowledge of Smartsheets, Power BI and Chronograph a plus.
