The ESG Associate manages the ESG functions within the company and willing, passionate and able to perform any task reasonably related to their duties.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with peers and portfolio companies to ensure policies, procedures and templates for identifying, managing and monitoring environmental, social and governance issues (ESG) in investee companies is up-to-date and implemented across all fund portfolios.

  • Complete and ESG review on investment proposals and give feedback to ensure it aligns with company policies and procedures.

  • Provide guidance to teams on investment-specific and sector-wide risks throughout the Due Diligence and ESG screening process.

  • Manage the engagement and output of external consultants and key stakeholders.

  • Provide guidance to investment teams and portfolio companies on identifying and mitigating ESG risks through use of reporting.

  • Co-ordinate training on guidance and ESG documents.

  • Share sector-specific lessons by taking thematic reviews across countries.

  • You will report to the Director, ESG policy with additional support from Managing Partners.

  • You will work closely with the investment team, deal leads (managing the day-to-day relationship with portfolio companies) and Managing Partners.

Key Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience working in ESG functions of an investment firm and in sustainability issues. Experience in the agribusiness is a bonus.

  • Capable of conducting ESG reviews (EIA, SIA or ESIA), due diligence assessments, monitoring and reporting in alignment with the IFC Performance Standards.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationship and conduct sustainability reports.

  • Strong leadership skills and able to work well in collaboration with other teams and stakeholders.

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.

  • Strong English language skills, multilingual skills and experience working abroad is a bonus.

  • Experience in a food-related industry is a plus.

  • Willingness to travel to the US and Asia.
