Role Description

Reporting to the VP, Head of ESG, the ESG Energy and Technical Director will support GID's ESG goals and programs in collaboration with Asset Management, Portfolio Management and Property Management. The essential functions of this role include project implementation at the asset and building level, ESG due diligence, ESG asset capital planning, energy & GHG benchmarking, and energy & water audits.


Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate and implement energy, GHG reduction and water conservation projects to deliver consumption and financial savings throughout the portfolio.

  • Manage ESG due diligence process for stabilized and development acquisition properties. Evaluate and coordinate budgeting of projects arising from ESG due diligence and climate risk assessment analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with energy and GHG benchmarking, ordinances; monitor and track EUI and GHG intensity measures. Identify, evaluate, and implement reduction projects as appropriate.

  • Manage energy and water audits across the portfolio; evaluate and implement ECM and WCM products as appropriate, developing a medium and long-term program to implement energy and water conservation measures as a result.

  • Coordinate with GID's ESG consultant to compose annual GRESB submission, ULI Greenprint submission and develop GID's ESG Annual Report

  • Evaluate opportunities for external recognition for our ESG practices and manage the application and process for awards and certification programs.

  • Assist senior leaders of the Portfolio Management, Asset Management and Windsor groups in designing sustainable strategies to meet investment partner objectives.

  • Participate in industry associations to promote best practices.

  • Create leadership dashboards and reporting cadence to track performance.

  • This job has no employee direct reports and works in collaboration with other ESG teammates, led by the VP, Head of ESG.


Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with similar job skills.

  • Experience with top ESG Reporting Frameworks and Standards including GRESB, TCFD, SFDR etc.

  • Experience with reporting platforms and tools, including ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.

  • Familiarity with Green Building Certifications including LEED, ENERGY STAR, Fitwel, WELL, etc.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, concise, and persuasive manner with all levels of the business.

  • Excellent networking and presentation skills, strong ability to write and edit, with strong analytical skills.

  • Proficient working level in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Bachelor's Degree, with a major in: Environmental Science, Architecture, Engineering, Energy Management, Real Estate, Sustainability, or related field and/or years of career experience.

  • Approximate travel is one week per month.


Compensation

  • The base compensation range for this role is highly competitive + an annual performance bonus.

  • GID considers a range of factors including education and experience when determining compensation.

  • This position is eligible for benefits.
