We are working with one of the UK's leading investment management companies to hire an ESG Investment Director for its UK SMID business. This is one of the most successful and fast-growing teams currently investing in UK equities (public & private). This hire is part of the team's ongoing commitment to realising the investment opportunities that specialist ESG analysis and company engagement can deliver for their clients.

This role will work with a collaborative team running a range of products including an Investment trust. The team successfully invests in high growth, often tech enabled, companies across financial services, FMCG, IT services and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Contribute to the day-to-day investment process across different products and work with the Fund Managers to develop an ESG approach that enhance with their investment styles; review product range and identify any gaps or potential modifications

  • Work with the Fund Managers to incorporate ESG analysis in investment decision-making and risk management as well as conduct detailed ESG analysis on specific investee companies

  • Engaging with companies pre and post investment to advise on key ESG/sustainability issues/opportunities for change

  • Articulate ESG approach to internal & external stakeholders in fund materials, client meetings, RFP responses, conferences, thought pieces

  • Stay abreast of changes in regulation and ensure the Investment teams are well positioned to meet requirements and demonstrate industry leadership

  • Present to the Board on ESG issues relating to the Investment Trust PLC including presenting on ESG issues relating to new positions, existing positions and at the overall portfolio and investment company level

  • Work closely with the CIO Office, Investment Directors, ESG Hub, Sustainable Investing team and Corporate Head of Sustainability to ensure a cohesive firm-wide approach

Experience Sought:

​

  • Demonstrable expertise in assessing the quality of companies through in depth ESG/sustainability analysis

  • Extensive ESG/Sustainability knowledge through actively engaging with UK companies, seen as a subject matter expert

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a flair for presenting - tailoring the message based on nature of client and size of audience

  • Have the resilience, organization skills, persuasiveness, and perceptiveness to thrive in a fast moving and challenging environment

  • Technology proficient - experienced in using various systems, applications, software
