Acre is working on a retained basis to appoint an Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Manager for either the Hong Kong or Singapore office of a long-established global private equity firm with a long-held commitment to ESG.

This is a newly created and strategically important position with the remit to focus on ESG value creation and ESG risk minimisation at both fund and portfolio company level in the Asia Pacific region.

Our clients invests in a wide range of industry sectors and takes influential management positions in the companies they invest in. This is a significant opportunity to have a big impact on how companies in the APAC region can optimise their place in the transition to a low carbon and sustainable economy.

In addition to supporting and contributing to ESG strategy implementation in the APAC region, responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and managing material ESG topics during the full life cycle of investments (from due diligence to exit)

  • Managing external consultants in the analysis of pre-acquisition ESG due diligence

  • Engaging with and managing relationships with portfolio companies to enhance ESG-related programmes and resources

  • Working with and training investment team colleagues on how to further integrate ESG and sustainability throughout the investment lifecycle

  • Engage with or managing partnerships with various stakeholders, including relationships with NGOs and industry collaborations

Desirable experience, qualifications and competencies:

  • Proven understanding of the responsible investment or sustainability/ESG landscape, particularly in the Asia region

  • Experience working with companies on ESG/sustainability issues to enhance commercial performance

  • Aptitude for critical and creative thinking across the quantitative and qualitative spectrum

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read information/situations from varying perspectives and tailor messages to suit different audiences

  • MBA and/or other relevant Masters degree in ESG, responsible investment, sustainability management or associated fields
