Podback is a ground-breaking pre-competitive start-up with ambitious circular economy targets and is backed by two of the biggest players in the coffee industry, Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Nestlé. In partnership with Acre, Podback is looking to hire an Executive Director to lead the organisation after its announcement in November.
The ED will be responsible for the leadership of operations, administration, financing, and programmes to drive the organisation's performance against its strategic vision. The not-for-profit initiative is set to be launched in early 2021 and to grow year-on-year, with a large cross section of the industry already having committed to becoming members.
You will work closely with the Board of Directors and act as the figurehead for the organisation. You will have a passion for sustainability and proactively developing circular economy solutions, taking the leading role in stakeholder engagement, ensuring Podback has a strong and impactful future and delivers against Podback's mission to create "A world where every coffee pod enjoyed, is recycled."
Governance: Lead the Board and the Guiding Team to drive governance to maximum effectiveness in order to fulfil the Podback's mission.
Financial Performance and Viability: Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organisation, balancing cost effectiveness and coverage.
Organisation Vision and Strategy: Responsible for enhancing the organisation's profile through engagement activities, programme quality and developing key media relationships.
Organisation Operations: Building capacity in line with growth ambitions and delivering effective administration of the organisation; responsive, adaptable and able to utilise effective change management processes to develop the organisation whilst scope coverage increases.
Given the innovative nature of this start-up business, it is essential that the Executive Director shares the same passion for sustainability and circular economy solutions as Podback's founding members and working groups.
Your Approach and Experience:
Proactive and Entrepreneurial: A visionary approach with an ability to shape strategy and be able to work self-sufficiently and with the wider stakeholder group in mind.
Natural Collaboration: You'll be able to effectively lead, manage and work within multi-stakeholder teams.
Effective Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must; media training would be an advantage.
Solutions Focused: You must be able to react quickly to resolve any issues affecting the organisation, its work, and its members that may arise.
