Acre is delighted to be partnered with a globally recognised transportation business as they look to hire a new Fire, Health and Safety Advisor. You will play a crucial role in supporting business areas to effectively manage risks, understand their culture, safety performance and continuously improve.

You will report into the Fire, Health and Safety (FHS) Business Partner and deliver competent Health, Safety and Fire advice. You will work with a variety of stakeholders including operational safety leads, Trade Union H&S Representative, and the wider FHS Team. You will also be responsible for:

  • Leading delivery of a range of FHS projects to support the achievement of Strategy strategic aims.

  • Ensuring your business areas identifies hazards, conducting and reviewing risk assessments and implementing the controls required.

  • Developing an understanding of the existing safety culture, colleagues' attitude to FHS and support the implementation of culture change.

  • Providing technical advice in relation to more complex technical risk evaluations and mitigation.

  • Supporting the development and implementation of Safety Improvement Plans (SIP).

  • Supporting your business area to perform safety inspections and leadership safety tours, enabling the capture of safety improvement opportunities and best practice observations.

As the Fire, Health and Safety Advisor you will have good communication and influencing skills including effective stakeholder management within a complex, unionised environment. You will also have:

  • Safety experience gained ideally in a complex operation/high-volume footfall environment such as transport or manufacturing.

  • Ideally National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in a meaningful way.

  • Good understanding of continuous improvement or project management processes

  • Ideally GradIOSH and working towards Chartered status
