A global asset manager has retained Acre to appoint a Co-Head of Engagement & Stewardship to lead on environmental, social and governance (ESG) programmes that further evolve their responsible and sustainable investment ambition.

This appointment is strategically important and an integral part of the investment and ESG team.

Working collegiately with fund managers and investment analysts to further integrate sustainability considerations across the portfolio, plus contributing ESG insight to the growing range of sustainable investment funds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Active ownership: supporting the development and implementation of company engagement on sustainability topics with investment teams who carry out the ESG research

  • Leading and facilitating engagement with senior executives and directors in global companies, in conjunction with investment colleagues

  • Participation in collaborative industry engagement initiatives

  • Strategic planning and supporting the development of systems to enhance reporting and transparency

  • Oversight for proxy voting activities including voting operations

  • Advocacy activities, such as relationship management with policy makers and regulators

Experience Sought:

We are open to considering transferable knowledge and skills from a variety of backgrounds. In addition to experience of analysing ESG performance at company and industry sector level in the investment sector, we also welcome applications from individuals with:

  • ESG consultancy experience; advising corporates on new sustainability strategies and programmes linked to business performance on a range of topics from climate change to social supply chain, or;

  • Strategic in-house sustainability experience gained in a variety of industry sectors, working closely with investor relations teams

  • The ability to contribute to discussions on investment risk related to governance and sustainability factors

  • Strong influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills to be effective in company engagement meetings and internally, to contribute to the strategic priorities for the ESG team

This is a key remit in the Global ESG and investment team and an opportunity to contribute to the bigger picture of enabling a more effective and responsible capital markets system.
