Do you think we can do better for the environment?

Then join Heineken to Brew a Better World. In this role, you will have a significant opportunity to affect truly sustainable progress and create a lasting impact at a global level.

For starters, you will develop and implement an inspiring, compelling and context-based strategy for water balancing and water circularity, in line with the 2030 water ambition, 'Towards Healthy Watersheds'. This gives you an opportunity to work with a diverse group of stakeholders ranging from our colleagues across the Americas, Africa, European and Asia Pacific regions, non-governmental organisations and think tanks on corporate water stewardship. This means you will influence meaningful change for more than 85,000 employees and 186 production sites across the vast value chain and have the opportunity to continuously innovate solutions based on external developments in water.

You will also be a trusted partner within the organisation, and the business will look to you to win the hearts and minds of its key stakeholder groups. You will have a rare and unique opportunity to hone your leadership skills, not just for your career development but for the betterment of our planet and the people who call it home.

The role: Water Stewardship Expert

As a Water Stewardship Expert, you will enable Heineken to embed sustainability in its different functions and regions. You will report directly to the Global Water Stewardship Manager, working closely to develop and orchestrate the delivery of Heineken's Brew a Better World 2030 strategy, supporting the implementation of the watershed protection strategy across our operations, especially in sites located in water-stressed areas.

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Develop and implement the water strategy globally focused on watershed protection through water balancing and water circularity beyond Heineken's brewery walls.

  • Develop and deliver roadmaps, working with operating companies in water-stressed areas.

  • Periodically, in collaboration with the supply chain, asses water-stressed areas globally to anticipate water risks and mitigate them.

  • Facilitate Centres of Excellence for water stewardship and community building to stimulate peer-to-peer support amongst breweries so personnel on site are equipped to execute water programmes.

  • Methodology owner for measuring the outcomes and impact of water balancing based on the Volumetric Benefit Accounting (VBA) standard.

  • Responsible & accountable for internal and external reporting on water; CDP, Annual Report etc.

  • Build, maintain and influence a network of internal and external stakeholders/partners and represent the organisation which is required to meet our 2030 commitments on collective action.

Who are you, and what do you bring?

We know skills and competencies show up in many ways and can be based on your life experience. If you do not meet all the requirements listed, we still encourage you to speak to us about this opportunity.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental and/or Engineering Sciences or a related field is an added advantage.

  • Proven track record of water stewardship and catchment-based water management, leading collaboratively and successfully in a cross-functional environment.

  • Experience in watershed management working with companies and other stakeholders

  • Experience in developing partnerships with external partners and collaborating with multiple stakeholders (e.g. NGOs, governments, other companies etc.)

  • Prior experience in managing initiatives across multiple geographies

  • Convincing communicator with strong presentation skills.

  • Experience working in diverse teams within a large organisation, actively listening to and considering the needs of others to build trusting relationships, work collaboratively and achieve desired outcomes.

  • Demonstrable experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders of all levels, flexing your approach to partner, influence and share knowledge across relevant networks.

  • Strong written and verbal English; any other language is a plus.
