Our client is one of the UK's leading investment management companies with roughly £60 billion worth of assets under management.

They provide investment services to individual and institutional investors through mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and sub-advised funds. Having a strong global presence and a period of international growth with offices open in Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, and the US.

Their stewardship approach is characterised by their active management and investment-led philosophy. This is an excellent opportunity to join their Governance & Sustainability team which sits within the heart of their Fund Management department and is part of their broader CIO Office.

The Role

This is a senior role in the team, reporting into the Head of Governance & Sustainability, that offers significant exposure and participation with the business' Investment Teams. Engagement is the hallmark of their stewardship approach, and you will therefore play a significant role in working in partnership with their Fund Managers to engage with Company Boards, conduct portfolio monitoring and take ideas to Investment Teams. The role offers access across their asset base; sustainable investments and solutions, developed, emerging and private markets, investment trusts, fund of funds and fixed income.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Governance & Sustainability team and Investment teams to generate engagement ideas that consider ESG risks and opportunities and support wider responsible investment commitments.

  • Engage directly and collaboratively with Companies to represent client interests.

  • Conduct ESG portfolio reviews and monitoring.

  • Drive the business' policy agenda creating greater accountability in connecting their stewardship approach to external obligations (e.g. Climate, UN Global Compact).

  • Work with Fund Managers and Distribution colleagues to take part in client briefings.

  • Disseminate ESG data from third-party providers and contextualise these findings with the team and Fund Managers.

Requirements

  • Proven Governance / ESG, preferably gained within an Asset Management / owner setting.

  • Experience in implementing projects, data-centric and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Track record of producing thought leadership.

  • Analytical ability, attention to detail and numeracy skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure, serve various stakeholders and build productive relationships with investment professionals and senior management is essential.

  • Proactive and self-motivated.

  • Experienced in coaching and motivating teams to continuously improve performance.
