Our client, a key FTSE 250 business in the transportation industry, is searching for a Group Environment Manager to join them on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will lead on maintaining the high levels of environmental management that have been put in place, whilst contributing to the Group's CR/Sustainability strategy. Working Alongside different divisions, you will be confident in driving change in a complex business environment.

Key deliverables in the role will be:

  • Working with two key divisions in the group to implement their science-based carbon reduction targets, reviewing/ developing roadmaps to 2035 and setting interim targets.

  • Creating a system for ongoing monitoring and reporting of environmental KPIs across the Group.

  • Working with the Procurement team to enhance their supplier selection/ engagement processes in line with their sustainability goals.

  • Supporting continuing work on TCFD (Taskforce for Climate-Related Financial Disclosures), with a particular focus on metrics and targets.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA, IES) at full or level or higher.

  • Proven experience in an environmental management role, managing compliance with UK environmental legislative requirements.

  • Keen understanding of how data is used to identify opportunities for improvement, to support business cases and drive change.

  • Exemplary understanding of sustainability/ ESG reporting requirements, benchmarks, and assurance standards.

  • Persuasive in the presentation of analysis, trends, results and forecasts.

  • Strong commercial awareness, and a keen understanding of the impact of long-term environmental risks and opportunities within a business model.
