This business, an FTSE 250 automotive and commercial leasing group, is looking for a Head of ESG & Corporate Sustainability to shift the dial in the global effort to reach Net-Zero.


You will support the objective of being a responsible, sustainable, and socially conscious business, reflecting the essence of the Group's brand and core values. You will also ensure the Group operates with a high level of ethics across its large customer base and supply chain, as well as engaging with OEMs and government bodies to influence local and international policy.


You will evaluate all aspects, including colleagues, suppliers, local communities, and the environment and bring forward opportunities to deliver economic, social, and environmental benefits that reduce the impact on the local and global environment and meet the socially conscious expectations of their customer's colleagues and shareholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement the Group ESG & Sustainability strategy and deliver programmes to support the Group net-zero targets, increase internal and external stakeholder engagement, awareness, and commitment to sustainability

  • Provide leadership and advice across the Group on key sustainability initiatives to support the delivery of the overall ESG & sustainability strategy

  • Develop a highly effective communication roadmap that delivers sustainability strategies and programmes, as well as creating briefings and content for senior leadership teams for use with key commercial partners and other stakeholders.

  • Manage engagement with external stakeholders on all ESG matters, including co-ordinating on supplier-based evaluations and customer reporting requirements

  • Implement and manage sustainability policies which support the Group's regulatory requirements (TCFD and Scope 1-3 planning), communicating these effectively through training and collaboration with relevant stakeholders; Including managing external experts required for verification and external reporting

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance their sustainability knowledge and awareness, ensuring that Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) factors are included in the corporate, investment and business ambitions for the future

  • Develop ESG intellectual and thought leadership pieces, including carbon footprinting methodology

  • Manage ESG rating agencies to maximise scoring

About You:

  • Demonstrable track record of practical delivery against publicly stated goals on environmental and social issues

  • Significant experience in leading ESG & sustainability programmes gained within major commercial organisations

  • Able to build effective partnerships with external organisations to support ethical trade and sustainability efforts

  • Excellent lasting relationship builder with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders

  • Commercially driven, numerate, and analytical

  • Excellent leadership, management and influencing skills

  • Able to communicate at all levels across the Group

  • Ability to inspire and create followership
