Are you an experienced senior communications expert looking to create and expand impact in the space of conservation finance? Are you looking for an opportunity to be based in Bali?

Acre is partnering up with Lestari Capital, a conservation finance company based in Southeast Asia, that develops innovative, nature-based products that enable companies to deliver on their sustainability objectives. Its flagship initiative is the Rimba Collective, which aims to mobilize up to US$1 billion to help protect and restore 500,000 hectares of forest and improve the livelihoods of 32,000 people in rural communities in Southeast Asia over 30 years.

You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Head of Rimba Collective while working across departments and communications, delivering creative range and quality. Where relevant, you will work closely with external communications consultants and agencies to deliver key objectives of the project.

You will be leading both the development of Lestari's communication strategy as well as being 'hands-on' and trailblaze its implementation and successful delivery. This is an exciting opportunity that allows you to be creative, proactive, and a key member of the senior leadership team.

Key target areas you will be working on:

  • Establishing Lestari Capital as a thought and action leader in the space of conservation finance, corporate sustainability, and forest conservation, to secure new business opportunities and partnerships through increased media exposure and targeted messaging to Rimba Collective key audiences.

  • Securing key opportunities for Lestari Capital to differentiate itself and its products from competitors, with the purpose of answering the key business case of corporates to utilize Lestari Capital's mechanisms.

  • Establishing a pro-active and collaborative space for Rimba Collective existing partners to seize communication and other "showcasing" opportunities. Such opportunities to be focused on also building growth of client participation in LC products.

As the Head of Communications, your key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Communications

  • Design and implement Lestari Capital's communications strategy, incorporating its flagship initiative Rimba Collective, with a clear work plan for 2023 onwards;

  • Conduct an audit and create a plan for Lestari Capital's communications channels;

  • Position and promote Lestari Capital's brand;

  • Update the corporate website to reflect Lestari Capital's branding identity refresh;

  • Lead the development of key corporate communications materials;

  • Ensure editorial control for all communications including appropriate content/tone;

  • Provide senior strategic leadership support when needed;

  • Represent Lestari Capital at external events where appropriate.

Crisis Communications

  • Manage the development of crisis response strategies, reactive statements, FAQs and other deliverables as needed;

  • Provide general counsel on strategy, collaborating with other internal teams (legal, government affairs, etc.) as appropriate.

Corporate Relations

  • Coordinate and spearhead communications and high-profile media campaigns with Lestari Capital's partners;

  • Develop the agenda and facilitate regular communications forums for Rimba Collective's existing corporate members.

Media Relations:

  • Lead the development of Lestari Capital's media relations strategy and coordinate with external media consultants/PR agencies as required;

  • Systematically monitor the news and identify areas for thought-leadership;

  • Proactive management of media relations; field and respond to interview requests;

  • Identify potential media and speaking opportunities to promote Lestari Capital;

  • Provide media training and counsel for Lestari Capital senior management as required.

Management:

  • Build and manage Lestari Capital's communications team including staff and consultants;

  • Ensure that the appropriate systems, staffing, and procedures are in place to meet deliverables;

  • Quality control of the communications staff and consultants' outputs;

  • Identify needs for external agencies, consultancies, draft TORs and manage the selection/onboarding process;

  • Manage the communications budget and ensure deliverables are met on time, within budget, and of high quality

To be successful in this role, you will require the following:

Education and Experience

  • Master's in international relations, communications, or a related discipline.

  • At least 12 years of professional work experience in a fast-paced, dynamic communications environment at an international level;

  • Demonstrated successful corporate sustainability communications expertise is a requirement;

  • Well-versed in using different communications tools and techniques, with a clear focus on targeting stakeholders effectively and achieving impact;

  • Track record in producing and overseeing the production of compelling content;

  • Track record of building and managing teams and consultants;

  • Native spoken and written English is essential;

  • Have a passion for storytelling and connecting with audiences and multiple diverse stakeholders;
