The portfolio spans urban centres across Europe's largest economies, including the UK, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and the Nordics. The business is headquartered in Amsterdam, and has a dedicated team of over 150 staff, with a local presence in each market.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Strategy, Planning and Investment, you will be responsible for implementing Mileway's sustainability strategy. From the groundwork of their existing ESG framework, you will further define baselines, ambitions and set targets for the short and midterm and manage reporting. You will also work directly with a diverse range of stakeholders including senior leadership and local teams across the globe. This is a challenging role, suitable for an experienced professional with the knowledge, vision and team attitude to put their stamp on a brand-new, international organization.

Further responsibilities include:

  • Create a roadmap to inventory the current sustainability features within the portfolio as well as the company's sustainability processes

  • Set and review short and long-term ESG-related goals and targets for, among others, EDD, LED lighting, solar PV and carbon emission

  • Further develop and implement the Mileway ESG Framework and put together and manage a dedicated ESG team

  • Source and develop tools and processes to accurately measure their progress

  • Develop an ESG reporting strategy, first internally and later on externally as well, following industry's best practices on sustainability reporting

  • Create insights that complement our core values and enhancement business performance

  • Establish an ESG Committee to ensure bottom-up adoption of ESG best practices across the organization

  • Develop a comprehensive Mileway Environmental Policy

  • Contribute to the organisation's customer's success by developing a Green Lease Program to improve overall sustainability

  • Develop and implement a Sustainable Procurement Program

  • Be the owner and central hub of all initiatives associated with energy and environmental performance improvement across our business

  • Own Mileway's sustainability strategy, policy and execution, collaborating with stakeholders from the C-suite to local market teams to communicate and carry out the vision

  • Seek out, analyse and interpret data that will help to better understand the current sustainability level, bring down the energy usage, reduce operating costs and mitigate future increases

  • Create initiatives that will contribute to Mileway's bottom line

  • Identify external sustainability partnerships that can help propel Mileway's ESG ambitions

  • Communicate with and educate internal and external audiences to create awareness, highlight successes and best practice.

Candidate profile:

  • Several years relevant experience and a proven track record in implementing sustainability programs.

  • Demonstrable experience in business and operational transformations

  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape in Europe around sustainability, energy and carbon reduction

  • Adaptability and an instinct for what works. You will be building a program within the context of a fast-growing and evolving international business

  • Above average analytical skills to assess and interpret a huge amount of data

  • Team attitude - You bring energy and desire to lead, inspire, drive processes and positively influence those around you

  • A collaborative approach. You know how to work with and get buy in from diverse stakeholders, and ideally, have

    already done so in an international company

  • Excellent communication skills. You can communicate up and down the organisation and with external stakeholders. Your English is fluent and an additional language is an advantage

  • Real estate experience is a plus, or experience in a related field like construction.
