The client has grown as an internationally recognised organisation working in Climate Change mitigation and well as broad Environmental Sustainability & Agriculture sectors.

Core services comprise of consulting, auditing and certification, including, but not limited to, audits for carbon offsetting projects, advisory for Net-Zero roadmap, ESG strategy, and Energy Efficiency.

About the Role

The Founder is spearheading the newly established UK operations. Together with strategic partners, the company is looking to build the net-zero consulting practice to help UK-based companies strategise and comply with increasingly stringent carbon regulatory requirements.

The company's partner network provides access to solutions beyond core consulting and certification services, including green financing, digital solutions, renewable energy procurement and carbon offsets.

As the Head of ESG & Net-Zero, you will be responsible for setting up the UK-based ESG and Net-zero business at Earthwood together with its partners.

In this role, you will work with the Founders/CXOs to execute multiple projects, provide business ESG and GHG consultation and design reports, and help clients implement the decarbonisation and net-zero strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively source and lead consultative and strategic engagement with companies impacted by carbon regulations

  • Steer and manage new business proposals and pitches for potential clients, suggesting innovative and creative solutions to briefs

  • Provide leadership and strategic counsel for high-profile clients, including directing projects, anticipating clients' challenges and developing strategies to solve them.

  • Work with clients with a view to build capacity, advise and draft the first version of their net-zero targets, and corresponding decarbonisation strategy

  • Leading initiatives to unify scattered data across departmental silos through data collection and formatting and making it ready to assess ESG's impact on clients' financial performance, including leveraging digital partner capabilities

  • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential clients operating across ESG sustainable business domains

  • Manage multiple client projects at a given time and provide overall guidance for the team members

  • Coach and mentor teams by demonstrating a solid work ethic and setting high standards for performance

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in ESG or sustainability-focused role, ideally in a consulting environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science/ Climate Science/ Engineering/ Economics or related discipline

  • Demonstrable understanding of how decarbonisation decisions are made, including how the public and private sector thinks and operates

  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent proposal writing skills

  • Not afraid to get hands dirty in a small company environment

  • Right to live and work in the UK

Desirable:

  • International experience and exposure, especially working with cross-cultural consulting teams

  • Open to travel to Asia for capacity building and internal company workshops

  • Master's degree in Environmental Science/ Climate Science/ Engineering/ Economics or related discipline
