Are you a philanthropic leader with experience in grantmaking into climate or equity action? Do you understand responsible investing? The philanthropic arm of a Responsible Investment Management business is looking for a Foundation Director for a 10-12-month mat leave cover.

The foundations' mission is to support and drive ESG initiatives, specifically focused on investor climate action, gender inclusion and action on economic inequality.

As Foundation Director you will be responsible for leading the foundation to deliver it's mission of accelerating the transition to a more sustainable economic system. Reporting directly to the Firm's Senior Partner and leading a small team of three, the Director leads the development and delivery of the Foundation's strategy and is responsible for managing all of the Foundation's activities.

You will lead proactive research and grant making, identifying new partnerships aligned to Foundation's mission. Managing a fund of £15m, as well as 4-5 existing partnerships, you will also be responsible for engaging with the board of trustees, every two months, to present a new partnership for the Foundation to consider.

Responsibilities:

  • Team management of three individuals

  • Oversee the annual budget of £15m, as well as managing 4-5 existing partnerships

  • Regular engagement with the board of trustee's

  • Delivery of the Foundation's mission by deployment of grants, ensuring effective due diligence and risk analysis has been carried out

  • Building strong networks with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the work is well positioned, visible and high quality

  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders, including finance and legal departments, to ensure full delivery of philanthropic funding

Requirements:

  • Experience in grant-making, including managing grant portfolios, impact management and reporting

  • Familiarity and experience with climate and environmental issues and their economic impacts

  • People management experience

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to relay information in a clear and concise manner

  • Have a passion for sustainability, particularly as it relates to investment and the global economy

Preferred:

  • Expertise in sustainable finance and its application as a tool for social and environmental change

  • A healthy network in sustainable finance and philanthropy
