On behalf of our client, Acre is in search of a New York City area Head of Sustainability, North America.

This role is a North American regional leader reporting directly to the US President and the Global Head of Sustainability. You will spearhead both internal and commercial sustainability initiatives in the region to ensure the company meets their global sustainability strategy, which is one of the business' four core pillars. This role requires logistics and freight knowledge and sustainability expertise at a senior level, the understanding of large, complex global corporations, and the ability to build strong relationships within the company as well as with clients as the top regional client-facing sustainability expert.
Your Responsibilities
Align with the Global Sustainability team and other regions on strategy and best practices.
Promote initiatives at industry expositions and panels.
Create and deliver compelling sustainability presentations tailored to customers' needs within all business units.
Serve as the primary client-facing sustainability expert and develop strong relationships with all business units and relevant functional units.
Use your deep understanding of the client's sustainable products and pricing mechanisms to identify upselling opportunities with customers, in partnership with the business.
Track and measure CO2 impact on sustainability initiatives across all business units in the US and Canada
Lead strategy direction with road carriers to procure electric vehicles.
Understand local social initiatives and community support, leveraging country-level projects to global initiatives.
Develop ESG capabilities in national employees, including training.
Identify and respond to regional or national ESG regulations, and influence development where appropriate.
Skills and Experiences
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in climate change, environment, or sustainability within transport, fleet, or logistics sectors. Sea freight experience is a must, and road freight experience is also desired.
Experience in implementing social sustainability initiatives is a plus.
Experience in corporate GHG reporting against carbon accounting standards and global ESG reporting frameworks, particularly complex scope 3 reporting, and science-based carbon reduction targets.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to connect with various customer stakeholder levels, from C-Suite to transportation managers.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Details:
Able to live and commute 5 days a week to the NYC area corporate office.
Willing to travel extensively, approximately once a week within the US and Canada, with occasional international travel.
US Work Authorization required; must be able to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
