The Equator Principles Association is looking to hire an interim COO.

The Equator Principles (EP) serve as a common baseline and risk management framework for financial institutions to identify, assess and manage environmental and social risks. More than 130 Financial Institutions in 38 countries have officially adopted the EPs.

As the interim COO, you will be leading a range of initiatives outlined by the Association and working closely with the Chair and EP Steering Committee. This is a new role for the Association and reflects the strong growth of this important global E&S network. It will be a high-profile role in which you will be responsible for driving the Association's 2022 workplan, working with E&S Risk Management teams in some of the largest global banks, while also supporting engagement with other stakeholders including civil society and institutions such as the IFC. You will be supported by the EP Secretariat.

You will be responsible for:

​Managing key initiatives set by the EP Steering Committee in the annual work plan, including:

  • Supporting the Steering Committee on governance, management structure and other strategic management issues

  • Development of EP reporting to production of 'activity report'

  • Reviewing EP Technical Guidance and delivering new thematic specific guidance and training

  • Engaging and overseeing the work of third-party service providers and consultants

  • Reviewing prospective EP adoptions

  • Supporting on external relations

  • Identifying opportunities for EP to engage and influence wider E&S sector initiatives, and providing input, as appropriate

The role is flexible in terms of location and hours, candidates should expect to work the equivalent of 2-3 days per week but more when required. Key deliverables will be expected on/around the EP AGM in early Q4 but the role will continue until December 31st. There may be some scope to extend further, if required.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Good Practitioner experience with the Equator Principles, specifically implementation of EP either from an FI or as a consultant

  • Skilled at operating in complex stakeholder environments - internal relationships, CSOs, industry, other supra national bodies at senior level

  • Ability to effectively represent EP externally, such as through reputation in the sector, level of expertise

  • Experience developing and leading projects, including oversight of consultants, processes etc.
