Acre are supporting one of the world's largest emerging markets investment organizations in their search to identify a specialist gender investor to lead the growth, development of strategy and value creation activities across their investment pipeline, portfolio, and programs globally. Our client is considered a leader internationally in the impact investing space and is known for its well established and cutting-edge gender lens strategy. Specifically, women's economic empowerment will be a key focus withing the broader theme of gender.

The successful individuals' responsibilities will include:

  • Overall management and execution of CDC's Gender Strategy as well as management of the team.

  • Lead the delivery of the existing gender strategy internally across all business units including, grant making, venture capital, private equity & debt as well as technical assistance teams.

  • External engagement with portfolio companies, grantees, partner funds the academic community and to ensure that they receive the necessary support and advice to further the embedding of gender considerations in their operations.

  • Lead the conceptualisation of the next iteration of the firm's gender strategy, using competitor analysis, academic insights, and subject matter expertise to drive innovation in the space and remain at the forefront of progress.

  • Take a leading role in the internal stakeholder engagement around key gender themes and lead the internal working group on gender.

The team this role will lead concentrates on advancing women's economic empowerment throughout the investment lifecycle, always integrating analysis of women's participation in investee businesses as a material factor in the investment decision-making process. Considerations include: the role of Women as business owners, leaders, member of the workforce and end consumers. This team is responsible for interventions across the corporate value chain that unlock the underlying social and economic value for companies, funds and programmes that embed gender lens considerations.

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • A highly successful background as an emerging markets investor with gender equality having been an important factor in the investment process.

  • Worked in development finance, responsible investment, impact investing or private equity as a deal lead across preferably at least one investment product.

  • Be a credible subject matter expert in women's economic empowerment and the role that capital can play in the advancement of such.

  • Excellent leadership abilities and experience in project management, team management and organisation, public speaking, stakeholder engagement and client management.

  • Worked in an emerging market economy in an investment/ development capacity.
