Acre are delighted to be supporting a leading, global impact advisory firm in their search for a highly successful Investment Manager to join their investment team focussing on water pollution & scarcity, food waste, food production and plastics. Our client provides advisory services for several UHNW (ultra-high net worth's), family offices and institutional investors looking to deploy capital to address environmental priorities in line with the SDG's.

Principally, the role consists in supporting the deployment of capital through the existing investment team and participating in the development of a large pan-European portfolio of equity investments in young companies active in those fields. The role will be based in Brussels.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate in the sourcing and the analysis of a pipeline of environmental projects in Europe (private equity investments in start-ups/scale-ups, mostly Series A-B)

  • Be part of the coordination and execution of investment activities, from building a pipeline of projects to analysing opportunities, and negotiating terms

  • Prepare and present investment recommendations to clients

  • Monitor the portfolio with an adequate level of involvement (e.g.: board seat, site visits);

  • Develop expertise and a network of external partners/advisors in the focus areas of our clients by participating to events/conferences and building lasting relationships

  • Measure & monitor the impact generated by the funded projects

  • Play a key role in ensuring the values and culture of our client on a daily basis

In your role in the investment team, you will also be expected to develop new client relationships promoting the business in the impact investing eco-system.

To be considered for this role the following must apply to you:

  • 8-10 years of work experience, including at least 4 years in private equity / venture capital (venture capital is a plus)

    • Must have led multiple PE investments from + board attendance having negotiated shareholder agreements, term sheets etc.

  • French speaking

  • Willing to work full time from Brussels

The following skills are also sought:

  • Professional experience or interest in environmental solutions is a plus (resource efficiency, circular economy, sustainable food & agriculture, new materials, green economy)

  • Network that includes banks, private equity funds, NGOs, development organizations, academia and other corporates in relevant European hubs

  • Open, problem-solving and critical mindset; ability to analyze and synthesize

  • Capable of being accepted & respected at board level. As a (minority) shareholder / board member able to act on and solve critical issues

  • Strong academic background; MBA or CFA credentials is a plus

  • Team player with a deep sense of empathy, strong social & communication skills
