About the Agoro Carbon Alliance

As part of the global transformation of food production towards more transparency and sustainability; optimizing how cropland is managed will make a substantial contribution to environmental sustainability and global agricultural greenhouse gas emissions reduction. Yara International has set up carbon optimization and climate action as key strategic priorities. From carbon sequestration to avoidance or reduction in farm-level emissions, the organization has recently launched The Agoro Carbon Alliance as a new business venture centred around farm sustainability and the decarbonization of the food chain.

The Agoro Carbon Alliance will address agriculture's global greenhouse gas emissions and turn the farm level carbon reduction potential into a sustainable growth business that will help farm operations optimization while providing new income streams to farmers worldwide.

The organization will collaborate with industry partners to build a global carbon alliance that will help farmers reduce their environmental footprint at scale; and as one of the early movers in this market, they aim to leverage Yara's global presence, existing knowledge on carbon practices, digital and data capabilities, and strong relationships with the food value chain to pioneer an industry-shaping business.

About the Role:

As the Grower Market Director Europe of this venture, you will be responsible for building and rapidly scaling Agoro's grower market network, while developing fit-for-purpose go-to-market strategies and delivering profitable growth across the region.

By leveraging your exemplary collaboration skills and deep knowledge of the European farming environment, you will build effective and lasting commercial channel partnerships; that will be partly reporting to you and that will help you grow Agoro's market footprint. You will lead commercial channel negotiations and be supported by the European Managing Director, and, through your team to ensure the continuous acquisition of growers joining the Agoro Carbon programs.

You come to this role with a deep passion and knowledge of sustainable farming, a proven track record in a successfully growing business, and a long tenure and network in the European farming sector. You are a relationship builder, a strong networker, and a collaborator, able to continuously find new market avenues while placing the grower's success at the center of the business. You excel in business development, and your energy and ability to take ownership and your impatience to deliver are visible.

Your Accountabilities

  • Build and continuously evolve Agoro's European grower channel network delivering adequate grower reach.

  • Develop and improve relevant go-to-market strategies, delivering on Agoro's European strategic objectives.

  • Be the owner of the relation with market collaboration partners in Europe.

  • Negotiate and nurture commercial collaboration agreements.

  • Ensure that the competitive advantage related to the channel is maintained.

  • Manage and provide strategic and operational leadership for the Grower Market team of geographically dispersed direct and indirect reports. Coach and develop direct reports.

  • Budget management.

Your Profile

  • You are a senior marketing/commercial leader with at least 12 years of experience in the European farming industry.

  • You are a business developer at heart with a track record of building successful market operations, including external partnerships.

  • You are an effective relationship builder, and you come across with natural authority as the approachable senior, a credible business leader that you are.

  • You understand the European farming and farming market environment, the variety of farming systems, and key crops across the continent.

  • You have the agronomic knowledge and passion for driving the proliferation of sustainable farming and in particular carbon related topics.

  • You are a sleeves-up-boots-on get-done leader, self-motivated, and results-oriented collaborator, knowing how to engage and bring people with you.
