Portfolio Team - Nature, Oceans, Air, Climate, Waste and Circular Economy

The Earthshot Prize (TEP), founded in 2020 by Prince William, is a global environment prize designed planet to incentivise change and help repair our planet over the next ten years. It is centred around five 'Earthshots' - simple but ambitious goals for our planet which, if achieved by 2030, will improve life for us all for generations to come.

The Portfolio Origination Analyst will be part of an exciting new team responsible for sourcing and managing the portfolio of solutions TEP considers for its acceleration and support programmes, including the annual Awards.

You will be directly responsible for one or more portfolios centred on each of the 5 Earthshots, sourcing and assessing outstanding solutions from around the world with a focus on diversity and inclusion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leveraging the best global experts and thought leaders to Identify the most relevant and important solution areas to focus on across each "earthshot" portfolio(s) each year.

  • Own the sourcing strategy for the portfolio(s), including leveraging Nominators, recruiting and managing experts-in-residence, and conducting their own research.

  • Championing diversity and inclusion in the development and assessment of their portfolio(s).

  • Conducting initial due diligence on everything in the portfolio(s).

  • Shepherding the portfolio(s) through TEPs annual Prize Selection Process, particularly owning due diligence for each solution, recruiting relevant experts to conduct deep assessments, and consolidating all information about the innovators into concise reports to enable decision-making at each stage.

  • Creating deep profiles of the innovators in their portfolio(s), understanding their needs, and evangelising their portfolio(s) across the organisation, particularly to TEPs Fellowship and Scale teams, who will help match make great solutions to the funding and support they need to accelerate.​


Experience Sought:

  • Experience in sourcing, conducting due diligence and monitoring potential solutions with similar domain expertise relevant to one or more of TEPs Earthshots.

  • An analytical mindset, both qualitative and quantitative. Comfortable diving into academic papers and reports or conducting their own desk research, then synthesising and conveying complex information effectively.

  • Excellent project management skills with attention to detail.

  • Comfortable and able to perform in an unstructured small-team environment, and flexible to manage a variety of projects in a timely and disciplined manner.

  • Able to work independently and proactively ask questions.
