Acre has been retained by one of the most established names in the North American Carbon Solutions market to recruit a Managing Director - Carbon Solutions who will manage the expansion and development of their platform through the next phase of growth.
Our client is well-regarded as one of the top consultancies in this field, with a deep track record in high-quality, nature-based solution projects around the globe. Through a close partnership with one of the world's largest financial services groups, they have successfully developed tens of projects which are already issuing credits on a bi-annual basis. This has enabled the protection of millions of hectares of forestry that would have otherwise been cut down, saving the homes of countless species of endangered wildlife and, in the process, sequestering and/or avoiding the release of hundreds of millions of tons of CO2!
Reporting directly to the Board and working closely with the existing leadership team, who themselves have combined decades in carbon & conservation, this person will lead the ideation and execution of a robust commercial strategy to scale revenue streams and headcount. This person does not necessarily have to come from the Carbon industry but will be a seasoned executive who has helped scale a technical consultancy service from earlier stages through sustained periods of growth.
Key Success Criteria:
Demonstrated experience managing an operation of at least 50 but ideally 75+ team members in either carbon project development or another technical services field with full P&L responsibility.
Outside of Carbon project development, relevant sectors include Sustainable Energy, CleanTech Projects, Environmental Services, Technical Engineering & Construction Consulting.
This person must have experience in land-use projects, e.g. forestry restoration, renewable energy siting, environmental permitting, general infrastructure.
A proven track record building & driving a successful commercial strategy across sales, business development & marketing. Including budgetary responsibilities of ideally $10M+.
Ideally, this person would also have a strong technical acumen to complement their commercial skills.
It's likely this person will be degree qualified and advanced level qualification preferred, e.g. MSc, MBA.
This role will be a challenge; you will be stepping into a full pipeline of business in an organization known for the high-quality standards they hold themselves to... But the reward could be huge!
In this role, you will deploy high-quality, impactful climate solutions at a meaningful scale. You will help continue our client's long history of expanding access and utility of carbon markets for the benefit of people, places & wildlife around the world, and you will do this in a way that maximizes profit but never at the expense of the highest levels of integrity.
