Acre are working with a strategic economic consulting group to develop a new business unit off the back of recent project wins across their investment client base. The group has spent more than 10 years delivering macro-economic analysis based on a wide range of sustainability driven themes. Hence, they have an immense amount to offer the investment industry as these factors become ever increasingly material to the effective valuation of potential investee companies.

Currently the group works across a wide range of sectors, including energy, industrials, natural resources (water, land use and marine), transport, real estate, urban infrastructure and services, manufacturing and technology, investment and banking. They are globally respected for their expertise across a number of themes, including economic growth and development, impact measurement, policy and market design, scenario analysis and asset valuation, natural capital accounting and resource management, low-carbon and climate resilience strategies, risk management and decision-making under uncertainty, spatial planning and special economic zones.

This leadership position will require a strategic thinker who can flex between directly writing research, creating the framework for the team's research activities and presenting sustainable & impact investment solutions directly to clients and on a public platform at industry events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the commercial lead on all business development and marketing for the product, developing both existing and new client relationships to generate business for the firm in the shape of consulting projects, joint ventures and licensed products

  • The product director will conceptualize, build and subsequently lead a team that will deliver cutting edge, data driven insights, tools and products for both sell side and buy side clients

  • Work with clients across the investment cycle to price in a much wider range of materially financial factors when evaluating the risk and/or opportunity of a potential investment

  • Produce tools and analytics that support clients in assessing the business models of potential investee companies in relation to global macroeconomic trends driven by the transition to a more sustainable global economy

  • Identify potential areas of opportunity for clients where co-branded products can be developed harnessing the group's capacity to analyse different geographies, themes and sectors to highlight alpha generating investment strategies

Experiences Sought

  • Demonstrable experience of leading teams and generating revenue in either a financial institution or consultancy environment

  • An understanding of the way that sustainability mega trends effect the viability of companies developed as an investor, consultant or company executive

  • A proven track record of applying macro-economic analysis and policy expertise in areas such as infrastructure development, investment banking, private equity or advisory and listed investment funds

  • A first class or upper second-class degree in economics or a closely related field is required.

  • An MSc/MA or Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred. Fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of other languages is an advantage, particularly Spanish or French.
