Our Client is seeking to add a Quantitative Sustainable Investment Analyst to its research team in order to further develop their capability to analyse companies across capital markets to demonstrate how environmental constraints have historically impacted company financial performance, and how future growth forecasts could be impacted by new environmental constraints.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Identifying accounting and financial data supporting company and portfolio valuation analysis and undertaking performance scenario analysis for companies and portfolios.

  • Identifying fixed income related financial data on companies and equity portfolios and undertaking performance scenario analysis for these companies.

  • Building in-depth financial valuation and performance analysis and scenarios. This will include synthesising findings and writing high level equity research reports for external delivery to the finance community.

  • Researching valuations and performance analysis of equities, debt instruments and indices.

  • Evaluating capital market investment flows from institutional investors to corporate stakeholders where necessary via conduits such as banks, project finance, insurance or other intermediaries.

  • Synthesising the findings to incorporate data analysis into the firm's research to ensure high level production of regular briefing notes for the financial, corporate and academic communities.

  • Assessing how this analysis of companies and investors highlights areas of mismatch between the likely future performance of companies and investor valuations, in accordance with team's theory of change.

PROFILE OF THE APPLICANT

A candidate for this position must have the following skills and attributes:

Competencies

  • Direct experience in the financial sector in a role focused on data driven valuation of public companies

  • Strong financial, analytical, modelling (Excel/VBA) research, quantitative analysis (ability to work in R/Python preferred)

  • Skills to deliver profits and cash flow forecasts as well as valuing businesses

  • Conduct competitive analyses, peer group analyses and overall market research covering multiple sectors including soft commodities, materials and water companies

  • Demonstrated delivery of capital market targeted research quantifying financial valuations and performance volatility to material risks - preferably environment related

  • Clear understanding of financial securities and their function including but not limited to listed equity, currency markets. corporate fixed income and sovereign fixed income
