The Responsible Sourcing team develops the methodology that underpins all of Sedex's products and tools. SMETA audit sits at the heart of that methodology and is trusted by the world's leading brands as the key tool for improved working conditions. In order to ensure that SMETA keeps pace with changing demands, Sedex is looking for a Responsible Sourcing Manager to lead on the development of SMETA, which sits at the centre of Sedex's strategy for increasing social impact.

In this role, you'll be evolving the current SMETA methodology, innovatively rethinking onsite assessments to improve their effectiveness and efficiency. You'll also be acting as the subject matter expert to help guide cross-functional teams to develop the products and tools to deliver the methodology.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads on developing methodology in order to enhance the quality and relevance of the SMETA tools and how they integrate with all other Sedex tools and processes

  • Works with cross-functional development teams to build new SMETA methodology into Sedex products, ensuring stakeholders' views are taken into account and coordinating how changes may affect other products and services connected to SMETA

  • Collates all relevant feedback and insights from membership, audit firms and wider industry and integrates them into the methodology and product evolution process. This includes hosting and running events on audit and key responsible sourcing issues, as well as running pilots of early-stage tests of the methodology

  • Apply insights and trends to feed into methodology, product development, and Sedex's Responsible Sourcing Strategy

  • Ensures social impact is built into the SMETA methodology

Experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of Responsible Sourcing/Sustainable supply chains, either in-house, as a consultant, in membership or multilateral organisation

  • Strong knowledge of on-site assessment methodologies e.g. Amfori / RBA ITC / SMETA

  • Experience in working with social compliance Audits from multiple perspectives

  • Track record of creating, launching and managing products / tools for responsible sourcing

  • Understanding/demonstrated experience in beyond-audit thinking and supplier continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated passion for building worker voice into responsible sourcing
