Are you an engineer excited by the potential of large-scale carbon removal? Acre is proud to be working with a cutting-edge tech company ready to revolutionize the potential of carbon capture.

Our client, a tech start-up with the financial backing of some of the world's largest financial institutions, is seeking an Electrodialysis Stack Engineer to join their team. Their mission is to develop globally scalable carbon removal to support a sustainable future for the world's climate.

Their unique carbon-capture technology was developed and proven in Caltech's laboratories and uses established electrochemical concepts to enable gigaton-scalable solutions for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere via direct ocean capture. Their technology captures carbon dioxide using only renewable electricity and ocean water, producing no by-products.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and develop next-generation electrodialysis stack from R&D scale to pilot scale

  • Bottom-up and first principle analysis of new concepts for electrodialysis stacks

  • Model and analyze novel electrodialysis stack design and operating regimes

  • Integration and assembly of membranes, spacers, electrodes, and auxiliary components

  • Evaluate key electrodialysis performance metrics, including energy efficiency, faradic efficiency, and other operating parameters

  • Design, adapt and implement functional materials and components to improve electrodialysis stack performance

  • Lead the efforts in safety, best practices in electrodialysis stack assembly, system testing, process development and related activities

  • Troubleshoot electrodialysis stack integration, assembly and implement improvements as needed

  • Manage team and foster effective teamwork among engineering staff in a dynamic, fast-paced technical environment

Your Education/Experience:

  • Advanced degree preferred in a related field of study, with specialization in electrodialysis, electrolysis, fuel cell and other electrochemical systems

  • 2+ years of industry experience in electrochemical device design

  • Hands-on experience and capability to design, assembly, evaluate and diagnose electrodialysis/electrolysis or other electrochemical systems

  • Ability to generate PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing and power requirement to support next-generation stack development

  • Ability to lead small teams and ability to manage small to medium projects

  • A strong technical understanding of electrodialysis or other electrochemical systems on the industrial scale for operation and troubleshooting

  • Always up-to-date with technical reports and published literature; alert technical team of new developments, willingness to test out new concepts to improve performance, yield, etc.

  • Highly motivated to work in the climate tech, emerging CO2 capture industry in a start-up environment

There is so much work to be done in this space, and our client is just getting started!
