The Investment Association is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to lead on Sustainability and Responsible Investment. The IA is a trade body that represents UK Investment Managers. Their 250+ members collectively manage over £8.5 trillion on behalf of clients.

The Senior Policy Advisor will play a key role in developing the investment management industry's position across the full range of Sustainability & Responsible Investment issues and leading on the industry's implementation and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

​As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will be required to:

  • Take ownership of strategic overview for the consistently evolving sustainability landscape

  • Contribute to the development of all relevant policy

  • Be an industry advocate with regulators, politicians and other relevant stakeholders on a UK, European and global scale

  • Provide thought leadership and pro-actively shape industry projects on behalf of members, including high quality policy analysis and advice

  • Develop deep relationships, collaborate and act as an oversight body of the IA's / industry relationships with other relevant organisations and groups operating in the field of sustainability

  • Demonstrate a level of knowledge and understanding to make you the partner of choice to our major stakeholders

Experience Sought

​The IA is seeking a responsible investment professional with significant regulatory and/or policy experience with:

  • A strong understanding of sustainable and responsible investing, with related experience to regulatory developments and progress on sustainable finance / green economy

  • The ability to communicate complex and technical information to specialist and non-specialist audiences

  • Experience in reviewing consultation papers from regulators

  • Strong project management skills, including organisational, written and verbal communication skills

  • A proactive, determined attitude and able to take the initiative and work well under pressure

  • Strong people skills and ability to collaborate and build relationships with members, policymakers, and other stakeholders

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise to deliver on time

  • The ability to meet deadlines and deliver to the highest standards, the first time around

  • Outgoing and team spirited disposition: comfortable working alone or in a team, to lead others when required
