The RJC make sure that the global jewellery and watch industry is meeting certain sustainability criteria to give workers and their families working in the industry and across the supply chain a brighter future.

The Responsible Jewellery Council is the World's leading standards-setting and certification organisation for the jewellery supply chain. With more than 1,400 Member companies and growing rapidly, RJC span the entire jewellery supply chain from mine to retail. The organisation works with businesses of all sizes to instigate step change towards sustainably sourced and produced materials.

Acre is supporting the search for a Senior Standards Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for designing new RJC standards and the revision and development process in accordance with ISEAL. You will be the figurehead of the standards team reporting to the Chief Executive, managing a small team and you will become a key voice of the jewellery industry internationally.

You will be responsible for:

  • Creating a new standard exclusively for laboratory-grown stones in accordance with the ISEAL standards-setting code

  • Engaging with the wider supply chain, members and stakeholders to conduct a thorough analysis of current RJC systems against recommended adaptations

  • Concluding the review of the 2019 Code of Practice (COP) to align with identified mining initiatives, material scope expansion and develop updated member and auditor training materials

  • Having strong communication internally with the Certification and Assurance departments

  • Reviewing RJC's Chain of Custody in order to update and revise current standards, as well as giving guidance on its application

You will play a key role in supporting the RJC's commitment to continuous improvement, providing a common standard for responsible business practices from mine to retail and improving ethical, social, human rights and environmental conditions.

Your Experience:

  • Experience working with ethical and sourcing standards, focused on environmental and social issues

  • Experience in supply chain initiatives and working with multi-stakeholder committees

  • High proficiency in verbal and written English, with the ability to communicate complex technical terms to a wide variety of audiences

  • A detail-oriented, methodical approach supported by a high-level understanding of sustainability issues such as business ethics, environmental impact, labour and working conditions responsible sourcing and human rights

  • Ability to speak French, Italian, and other languages is beneficial
