The world's oceans have been overfished for decades. Leading the fight against this is the Marine Stewardship Council. Working collaboratively with NGOs, scientists and businesses, the MSC has developed the international standard for sustainable fishing, to ensure that our oceans and fisheries are protected around the world.
As the MSC's impact continues to grow, Acre has been supporting with the development of the organisation's Supply Chain Standards function. This new role will report into the new Head of Supply Chain Standards Operations and ensures that the MSC's Chain of Custody programme retains its credibility, in a fast-changing environment.
Responsibilities:
Regularly and objectively evaluate the performance of the CoC certification program, identifying areas of integrity risk across the MSC supply chains and propose recommendations for improvement
Lead or support efforts (as delegated) to improve the overall assurance of the MSC's standards when implemented by supply chain businesses and audited by Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs)
Lead on investigation and variation requests in association with the CABs, Accreditation Services International (ASI) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC)
Lead on standards improvement and policy development as allocated, providing recommendations to the MSC's senior leadership and governance bodies
Present proposed standards policy changes or new initiatives to senior MSC leadership and stakeholders, including justification in papers to governance bodies
Develop, maintain, and build strategic relationships with the MSC's stakeholders (ASI, ASC, Technical Advisory Board, Stakeholder Advisory Council, and the Supply Chain Advisory Committee)
Your Background:
You will have an in-depth understanding of food (or similarly complex) supply chains, and the challenges faced by industries like fishing (e.g. palm oil, cocoa, fresh produce)
You understand the challenges faced by standards setting organisations operating at the forefront of policy development
