Our investment client is looking for a Stewardship/Engagement Manager to manage and coordinate the company engagement program, and lead and deliver a portfolio of engagement projects with a focus on social and environmental issues.

The primary purpose of the role is to implement the company's firm wide responsible investment and stewardship strategy.

This person will be heavily focused on direct engagement with senior management of investee companies on ESG issues.

They will have oversight of all aspects of the stewardship policy, systems and reporting including the implementation and review of the voting policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and structure company engagement strategies, across all ESG areas

  • Work closely with investment teams and RI team colleagues to deliver engagement programme stated objectives.

  • Monitor the progress of engagement programs against objectives and milestones and follow up with off-track engagement projects

  • Support Front Office teams in engaging with companies across all asset classes

  • Lead and support specific engagement projects in collaboration with fund managers and RI team

  • Engagement activity facilitates improved ESG integration, research and voting activities

  • Produce regular engagement updates, blogs and thought leadership pieces for internal and external use

  • Production of high-quality engagement research on key Governance topics, meeting notes, blogs and thought-leadership pieces

  • Assist with developing, coordinating and maintaining internal and external ESG-related content used in support of ESG objectives, including items such as the production of annual stewardship activities and output reports in line with the revised Stewardship Code, TCFD reporting etc, fund level ESG risk reporting

  • Implement voting policy and conduct reviews to ensure adherence to ongoing best market practice

  • Consult with investee companies on their remuneration policies

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal ESG related inquiries (directly from distribution partners and/or escalated questions from RFP/RFI/DDQ processes)

  • Manage relationships with external vendors and industry groups to include staying on top of new data sources and tools to enhance ESG processes

Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of Corporate Governance best practices, stewardship/engagement practices and climate change experience would be desirable

  • Engagement or advocacy experience across a variety of markets and ESG topics desirable

  • Proxy voting experience is desirable, but not essential

  • 3-5 years' experience within the Finance Industry, ideally asset management, data provider, or at an advisory firm.

  • Confidence and experience in conducting meetings with senior executives of investee companies

  • A clear interest and passion for ESG and improving company and industry performance

  • Strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills

  • A collaborative self-starter, able to work on their own and as part of a team
