Are you an experienced sustainability professional, motivated by seeing the impact of your work play out? You're possibly in a large organisation now, with strong governance and commitment to ESG; working with leadership to operationalize sustainability, but maybe you're feeling ready for the next step; confident of your ability to own the strategy and drive the outcome yourself.

Although you may not have been the main owner of the sustainability strategy to date, you will know what it takes to embed and commercialise sustainability within a complex, matrix-style business environment.

Perhaps you're also looking to be a part of a business where sustainability is less well established, but one that puts people and the planet at the core of what they do.

If this sounds like you, then we have the perfect role for you. You will be:

  • Responsible for the ownership and development of the sustainability strategy and work closely with a range of local and European business functions to operationalise sustainability

  • Part of a purpose lead business that is uniquely non-hierarchical for its size

  • Reporting directly to the COO whilst engaging with, and supported by, an enthusiastic Leadership Board

IVC Evidensia is Europe's largest veterinary care provider, on a mission to bring people together to make animal care better by investing in people, premises and processes to deliver clinical excellence. Starting as an independent UK veterinary care company nine years ago, IVC Evidensia has grown through merger and organically, to become Europe's leading veterinary care provider.

Sustainability is a top priority for the Group. As Director of Sustainability & ESG you will be joining the business at a critical point on their sustainability & ESG journey. This role will give you the opportunity to lead, develop and shape the strategic direction of sustainability & ESG for the Group.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Global corporate sector experience, which includes hands on sustainability strategy development and programme implementation

  • Previous pharma and healthcare experience will provide a clear head start in the balance between Clinical & Commercial; however, if you've worked within a large, global, multi-site organisation with high-risk supply chain sustainability considerations, this would serve well as you will understand the nuances of global vs local, multi-cultural sustainability cross-collaborations

  • Extensive sustainability governance knowledge as well as experience of integrated pr FTSE-level reporting and understanding of all major sustainability reporting frameworks

  • Strong working knowledge of technical sustainability, gained through relevant qualifications
