It is an extremely exciting time to get involved in driving forward our sustainability ambitions and the customer team are looking for a Sustainability Manager to do just that. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the topic to not only project manage but drive forward our customer sustainability strategy.

This role supports the delivery and coordination of projects and key activities of my clients' Sustainability Strategy. The role pertains in particular to the delivery of programmes related to our strategic differentiator, delivering for our customers, which focuses on ESG Product Innovation, Financial Inclusion & Education and Digital Literacy & Accessibility.

You will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of initiatives across these themes and be accountable for ensuring delivery of various initiatives, working with a wide range of stakeholders. The role holder will have strong understanding of concepts and principles of sustainability and ESG with a financial services focus, as well as project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer sustainability subject matter expertise to workstreams on key elements of the Delivering for our Customers strategy, including delivering ambitious programmes of work against stated KPIs

  • Work with the Business Sponsor, other relevant stakeholders, and the project team to scope, define and deliver the initiatives in line with plan

  • Identify and actively manage stakeholders (typically up to SMQ level and Management Board Level) throughout the project to ensure project sponsor, steering group and other stakeholders are kept informed of project progress

  • Create and maintain a partnership with delivery teams, also holding these parties to account, as per the delivery agreements outlined in plan

  • Determining when risks and issues can be dealt with internally and where they need to be escalated to senior stakeholders

What we are looking for:


  • Experienced sustainability professional with an understanding of sustainability within a financial services context including, but not limited to, financial inclusion & education and product innovation within the sustainability context

  • Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure with resilience

  • Passionate about delivering for, and making a difference to, our customers

  • High-level project management

  • Attention to detail and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the business


  • Strong evidence of delivering medium to large and/or complex projects and relevant experience in the implementation of group-wide business projects

  • Understanding of customer needs and requirements
