​Acre is delighted to be leading the search for a newly created role for a well-established trade association representing organisations in the value chain of one of the minerals leading the green transition. This role will be based in the UK/EU.

The Sustainability Manager, reporting to the Head of Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability, will play an instrumental role in the implementation of the organisation's sustainability strategy offering value and support to a network of global members.

A key part of the organisation's work is to address concerns about the environmental impacts and sustainability of materials, and put into place strategies and programs to facilitate a responsible and sustainable supply. The Sustainability Program is critical to ensuring an understanding of the positive sustainability impacts in this sector and underpins much engagement with members and wider stakeholders.

In this newly created role, you will:

  • Translate technical and policy information into relevant, concise and effective reporting for internal/ external audiences and improve collaboration with members, stakeholders, initiatives, working groups, regulators.

  • Project manage and disseminate the findings of LCAs being undertaken by external service providers.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the advocacy positions and strategies in regard to sustainability.

  • Represent the organisation and play an active role on relevant technical committees and working groups, e.g. Global Battery Alliance, ICMM and Eurometaux.

  • Support the coordination of the members Sustainability Committee, preparing meeting agendas, organising meetings, preparing documents, ensuring there is proactive follow-up on actions.

  • Work with the Scientific and Regulatory Affairs team on issues of common interest/importance.

  • Support the Head of Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability and undertake related ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

You will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g. engineering; environmental science) or equivalent experience.

  • An experienced sustainability specialist (7 years+) with strong technical, analytical and communication skills - ideally from or with exposure to the extractives, commodities, batteries, or e-mobility sectors.

  • A knowledge of the sustainability policy landscape, ideally with a good understanding of climate change and/or circular economy policies, legislation and approaches.

  • Familiarity with LCA standards and guidelines (e.g. ISO 14040/44).

In an organisation which plays a central role in delivering long-term value for its members, many of whom operate in some of the most complex geographies globally, this role will be key to unlocking new opportunities for improvements in many key areas of sustainability and climate change. You will be given significant autonomy and will play a key role in creating something ambitious and holistic in partnership with an incredible global network.
