The International Tin Association (ITA) is a focal point for action and engagement on important regional and global issues affecting tin, promoting the industry worldwide and providing authority, leadership, and voice. The organisation has a strong focus on sustainability, with the association, and members working to positively impact social, economic, and environmental outcomes in the sphere in which they operate.

Acre is now recruiting for a Sustainability Specialist to join their dynamic team to implement technical projects and actions to encourage sustainable development in minerals supply chains and representing the industry in a variety of communication scenarios.


In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding and communicating how locations, technologies and other characteristics of tin production and supply relate to ITA's ESG tools, initiatives, and work with stakeholders.

  • Developing specialist knowledge regarding artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) business and technical needs and methods for improvement to deliver guidance documents and practical project actions.

  • Contributing to activities to promote responsible supply chains, including explanation and application of practical due diligence.

  • Monitoring, reporting, and proposing necessary actions on potential issues impacting tin and tin metal in the EU and globally, including chemical compliance related to impacts on environment and human health.

  • Developing climate change and de-carbonisation actions for tin production including working with external providers to update and report findings on the tin life cycle assessment (LCA/LCI).

  • Coordinating the ITA Responsible Tin Supply (RTS) quarterly stakeholder group to achieve regular engagement with international supply chain actors and stakeholders.

  • Delivering general and written communications for members and others within the industry to achieve improved understanding of human rights and sustainable development and to measure results.

You'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (e.g sciences, environmental studies, chemistry).

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a sustainability role ideally within mining, extractives, or commodities.

  • Demonstrated communication skills including translating technical and policy information into relevant, concise and effective reporting for internal and external audiences and to enjoy extensive stakeholder engagement.

  • Ability to understand varied business environments and a track record of delivering on tasks to a high degree of accuracy as required and according to agreed priority.

  • Previous experience in working with supply chains, small and medium-sized companies, or due diligence systems (desirable).
