You're working in sustainability as you want to make a difference. You have a desire to create meaningful change - but is your business supporting you to accomplish that?

This business, a global construction and development organisation, know that their future must be a sustainable one. The executive team are ready for innovation to take place and are looking for someone like you to be their pioneer.

Day-to-day, you'll be putting your experience and expertise setting realistic and meaningful sustainability objectives into practice. You'll make sure that you're not only setting, but meeting Net Zero targets, whilst looking at other areas of sustainability including Carbon Reduction, Life Cycle Analysis, Embodied Carbon and BREEAM.

You'll be:

  • A confident and experienced influencer - You'll be the Net Zero and BREEAM lead on all projects nationally, responsible for embedding continuous improvement into the company strategy and engaging with the divisional board

  • Organised and happy to be hands-on with the day to day of the role - You'll be supporting the site-based construction teams, undertaking in-house BREEAM assessments, coordinating data for monthly reporting, managing external certifications, and supporting key clients with priority sustainability objectives

  • An innovator - You will be working in uncharted territory here. Net Zero is a relatively new concept to a lot of construction businesses, but the opportunity to be impactful is therefore even more prominent

In terms of experience:

  • It's important that you have experience delivering BREEAM assessments. A degree in a sustainability subject would also be beneficial

  • Around 3-5 years of sustainability experience in either a consultancy or an in-house position should give you the skills you need. You'll preferably have experience providing sustainability support in the construction or development sector

  • If you can demonstrate that you're able to build relationships at every level, from building site to the boardroom, that will go a long way

  • Some creativity and evidence of collaboratively solving problems in your current sustainability role is welcome

  • You can be based either in Bristol or London, as long as you're happy to do some travelling across different sites. That will mean some driving, so a license is essential!

In return for your skills and expertise, you'll be met with a salary of up to £45,000 dependent on your experience, a car allowance or company car, and a discretionary bonus. You'll also have some peace of mind. This organisation hasn't been affected by recent events and is pushing ahead with its growth and hiring plans.
