Acre are working with a strategic economic consulting group to develop a new business unit off the back of recent project wins across their investment client base. The group has spent more than 10 years delivering macro-economic analysis based on a wide range of sustainability driven themes. Hence, they have an immense amount to offer the investment industry as these factors become ever increasingly material to the effective valuation of potential investee companies. The Sustainable Finance manager is expected to take a lead on growing and delivering our portfolio of sustainable finance related projects. The candidate has a positive team and client attitude, with a strong motivation to have a tangible impact on our environment and the economy.

Currently the group works across a wide range of sectors, including energy, industrials, natural resources (water, land use and marine), transport, real estate, urban infrastructure and services, manufacturing and technology, investment and banking. They are globally respected for their expertise across a number of themes, including economic growth and development, impact measurement, policy and market design, scenario analysis and asset valuation, natural capital accounting and resource management, low-carbon and climate resilience strategies, risk management and decision-making under uncertainty, spatial planning and special economic zones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Economic analysis of implications of a low carbon, climate resilient transition for public and private investors, including for disclosure, engagement strategy, strategic asset allocation, impact investment strategy, and risk management.

  • Scoping, review and synthesising large quantities of quantitative and qualitative evidence on optimal development pathways that align with climate goals and the Sustainable Development Goals and/or ESG goals more broadly.

  • Translating technical research and strategy advise on sustainable finance into clear, concise and relevant messaging and recommendations for high-level decision makers

  • Quantification of environmental and social factors that can drive the valuation process for companies beyond standard financial analysis

  • Analyse the sustainability driven mega trends across all sectors and their drivers to develop tools that support the analysis of associated challenges and potential solutions for clients

  • Conduct industry and value chain analysis, competitive analyses and peer group analyses

  • Maintain research databases and processes used to identify opportunities for new product development

Experiences Sought

  • Demonstrable examples of developing analytic/data tools for the financial sector

  • Data mining, cleaning, analysis and visualisation

  • Experience in preparing TCFD responses, Paris-alignment of portfolios and impact investment strategy, and/or environmental, social and governance (ESG) analysis is preferable.

  • Familiarity with economic modelling approaches that are relevant to sustainable finance, such as energy system modelling, sector-level microeconomic modelling, integrated assessment modelling and asset-level impact modelling; demonstrable leading of the development of such modelling exercises is an advantage

  • Detail oriented, analytical, motivated, excellent communication & presentation skills

  • Ability to analyse new and complex economic problems, design and apply advanced methods, and produce high quality end products
