Acre has partnered with a high-growth leading global player at the forefront of the voluntary carbon markets to appoint a Vice President Project Development for their North American business.
With a deep global track record in the space spanning over 20 years, our client has developed a strong and authentic brand associated with high integrity and quality by project partners and corporate clients alike.
As a response to growing market demand, the VP of Project Development will play a critical role in expanding the group's footprint across North America by developing regional partnerships, originating and contracting a pipeline of high impact greenfield projects in the region on behalf of both corporate and investment clients and influencing a strong vision and strategy for the group across North America.
Working closely with their colleagues across business development, they will also support and influence client purchasing decisions that are closely aligned with the company's supply-side portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing a North American project development strategy that secures strategic supplier relationships, with an emphasis on exclusive supply sources and models that are commercially attractive
Sourcing and evaluating project development and other mid-long term supply opportunities in line with the established governance processes of the team
Building, managing and regularly reporting on a pipeline of opportunities
Leading the structuring and negotiation of commercial contracts with landowners/project implementation partners through to contract signature
Sharing regular updates on North American project thinking around project types to inform and help guide Sales strategy and new product/service development and pricing.
Leading the delivery of insights to clients about the integrity of North American project supply offerings, and emerging initiatives in the marketplace
Staying abreast of developments in the North American carbon markets and climate finance and evaluating the impact and opportunity on the company's business models
Key experience:
>10 years' experience in NBS project development or related roles in North America
A degree in a relevant field such as forestry, ecology, biological conservation or environmental management is preferable but not essential
Track record of delivering commercial deals in North American carbon markets
Experience in the North American voluntary carbon markets; knowledgeable about trends in the regulations, policies and standards that influence land-based carbon projects
Experience working with local partners, with an understanding of the on-the-ground challenges and realities of project and carbon delivery, and the commercial drivers for North American landowners and project partners
A strong network in carbon project development
