In this hugely influential, newly created leadership role, the Vice President of Sustainability, GSK Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) will be responsible for driving the future sustainability strategy of GSK's Consumer Health business and brands globally.

Working cross functionally with regions, governments, NGOs and multi stakeholder initiatives, this is an exceptional opportunity for a highly commercially astute and experienced, purpose driven individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, develop and deliver sustainability frameworks and policies that enable and empower the operational and regional teams to execute their own transformational programmes and activities across their portfolio's, aligned to GSK's sustainability aspirations.

  • Oversee GSKCH's overarching objectives whilst supporting GSK's wider sustainability goals, fostering a culture of systematic collaboration, learning, sharing and capacity building around sustainability best practices and knowledge.

  • Direct and support the GSKCH Sustainability team by developing a robust service culture that creates high levels of pro-activity and responsiveness, ultimately enabling the business' strategic aims.

  • Partner with process owners in re-engineering key business processes to take account of sustainability issues.

  • Provide competitive intelligence on sustainability, including how the changing market dynamics should shape the GSKCH business and brand strategy. This includes identifying long term aspirations and commitments as well as key imminent threats and opportunities.

  • Develop effective multi-stakeholder engagement strategies and partnerships that will underpin GSKCH's brand and ambitions across the wider global business, NGO's, government and relevant associations.

  • Work with key departmental interfaces including R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Communication, Marketing and Government Affairs.

  • Work closely with Communications and Marketing to drive internal and external awareness and competitive advantage aligned with GSKCH's goals and progress.

  • Thought leader and key media contact for communicating compelling engagement narratives regarding GSKCH's strategies and initiatives to key senior stakeholders.

  • Re-engineer specific business practices and processes.

Experience:

Commercial Global Leadership

  • Proven track record as a senior leader across sustainability within a large global matrix business, ideally with experience in consumer healthcare, personal products, pharmaceuticals and other on-brief FMCG businesses.

  • Tangible evidence of global sustainability strategy and execution across an entire business / unit and its brands; with examples of defining, developing and delivering the frameworks and policies to enable and empower the operational and regional teams.

Strategy & Change Management

  • Proven track record of developing a culture and reputation for high levels of pro-activity and responsiveness.

  • Tangible evidence of where you have partnered with process owners in re-engineering key business processes to take account of sustainability issues.

Stakeholder Engagement & External Communications

  • Proven track record for developing effective multi-stakeholder engagement strategies and partnerships to underpin GSKCH's brand and business ambitions, across a range of stakeholders, including business, NGO, government and associations, in addition to

  • R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Communication, Marketing and Government Affairs.

Thought Leadership

  • Examples of compelling communications and thought leadership that have tangibly positively impacted the business.

Sustainability Program Management

  • Examples of where you have led environmental, supply chain and health & safety programmes that have had a tangible impact on the business and their brands.
