For the 10th year running, BGO achieved top global rankings in the annual Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark.​The Role:​The Associate will deliver the overall goals, targets and improvement programsfor fundsin Europe - across asset lifecycles (development, acquisition operations) and throughout the investment process including capital raising.Reporting to i) BGO Global Head of ESG (Toronto, Canada) and ii) a Managing Director - Investment Manager (Europe), in this role you will be responsible for supporting BGO's industry-leading approach to ESG through integrating Corporate ESG programming, aligning regional ESG Fund objectives and supporting overall reporting requirements. ​Requirements: Circa 3 -to 5 years' experienceworking as an ESG program manager, sustainability consultant, or similar sustainability development and execution position; ideally -- but not limited to -- in real estate, financial services, investment / asset management, project management or management consultingExcellent technical project manager; preference with energy efficiency backgroundKnowledge of ESG regulation and industry standards across Europe Experience in ESG reporting frameworks with a strong understanding of best practicesSolid analytical, innovative and problem-solvingmindset towards driving valueDriven self-starter with a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline-driven, team environmentStrong people management skills with the ability to influence and engage across a range of stakeholders, including the senior leadership teamExcellent communicator with strong presentation and communication skills Ability to work independently, as well as working with and managing internal and externalteamsProficient at using various analytical and visualization toolsOver time, taking full ownership of Europe ESG strategies as the BGO program is executed and advanced with the growth of the EU businessProficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word​​​Responsibilities:​Program integration:Support Corporate sustainability program integration including regionally focused on:operational efficiency (benchmarking, target setting, building certification assessments)resilience (climate risk)social impact (research and industry advocacy)tenant experience (tenant engagement, health & wellness)corporate policies (governance, social - giving back, volunteering charitable giving, sustainable work environements)Integrate corporate ESG strategy (processes, tools definition and implementation)Drive regional ESG performance through implementation of energy, water, waste, GHG emissions reduction initiatives (e.g. build ESG roadmaps - project structuring)​Reporting and assurance:Monitor performance and compile ESG data for corporate reporting, assurance, investor marketing and disclosure requirements (i.e., PRI, GRESB, TCFD, etc) Oversee portfolio compliance with current and future regional ESG regulationsOversee required ESG management systems​Data QA/QC:Support the maintenance of a robust data management system to track and report on ESG metrics, working with internal and external stakeholders to collect ongoing dataPerform data analysis to identify ESG trends. ​Engagement:Work closely with regional leads and Corporate Sustainable Investing team to ensure alignment of objectives, integration of programs and investment mandate supportRespond to requests for information regarding ESG strategy and performance from rating and reporting agencies, current and prospective investors and other stakeholdersSupport regional teams on delivery of Sustainable Investing Initiative​This a fantastic opportunity to take ownership and drive the strategy across the European practice. Their success is measured by thier ability to mobilise investors, policymakers and regulators into action around climate risk resulting in an orderly wind down of fossil fuels. Their analysis of unburnable carbon, stranded assets, and wasted capital has reframed the debate around climate change risk.​They are building a new team, who will create an exciting new workstream covering companies in Europe, the US and Asia.
