Our client is a top 25 investment management group with fund management teams in Europe, North America and Asia. They have established a strong responsible investment capability through a global ESG team delivering research, integration and engagement services.

This is a newly created role stemming from an executive level directive to further embed ESG best-practice into the firm's DNA and establish a more comprehensive methodology by developing an intuitive firm-wide approach to stewardship and engagement, globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the review and delivery of all proxy voting policies for the business, with an initial focus on North America and expanding to Asia over time.
  • Ensure that specific positions on selected sustainability issues are developed, articulated internally and externally (where appropriate); and that these positions are understood across the firm.
  • Embed the firm's stewardship activities wherever possible, including thematic engagement programs, bilateral and collaborative engagements, voting review and alignment, establishing tracking frameworks for engagement/voting outcomes which support client reporting.
  • Support global businesses in the development and establishment of policy architecture for Stewardship Code implementation.
  • Build and establish systems across the global brand that ensure best in class fulfilment of stewardship code obligations, evolving them over time to focus on defining the firm's position on issues of broader policy impact across both institutional asset management and wealth management divisions.

Experience Sought:

  • Extensive experience within an investment manager or within a combination of corporate, consulting and asset management exposure.
  • Significant experience across corporate governance and ESG engagement
  • Proven research track record, preferably with a strong corporate governance focus

  • Strong understanding of the interface between asset management and systemic issues of public policy importance, e.g. climate change, diversity and inclusion, income inequality
  • Experience with proxy voting research and administration strongly preferred

Position will be based in either Boston or Toronto, based on candidate preference. Relocation assistance for the right leader will be provided.
