Acre is delighted to partner with The Gold Standard Foundation to hire a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead and manage the organisation through their next stage of growth.

This internationally respected Foundation is a highly regarded standards body for climate and development projects. It plays a vital role in defining and demonstrating best practice for effective climate financing tools and policies.

In recent years, the Gold Standard Foundation has seen significant expansion in its scope of activities, market share and volume of certified projects. Most recently, Gold Standard has announced the creation of an exciting new company called SustainCERT to host its certification services previously hosted under the Foundation.

Reporting directly the Board, the new CEO will ensure the Foundation maintains its leading position in the carbon market while successfully driving adoption in new markets such as corporate sustainability interventions and impact investment funds and fostering a close collaboration with SustainCERT.

It will be your responsibility to drive the organisation forwards. You will be a confident outward facing individual who, through your networks and high profile, will support the development and growth of reliable and varied funding streams.

Responsibilities will further include:

  • Working collaboratively with the Board and senior leadership team to implement the organisation's strategy
  • Pro-actively engaging and maintaining a positive, two-way dialogue with the Foundation’s key stakeholders including international NGO supporters and strategic partners, governments, corporations and multi-lateral agencies
  • Originating new funding sources for the organisation
  • Operational planning, developing systems and structures to ensure effective running of the organisation and the management of risks
  • Preparing comprehensive financial and cash flow budgets and forecasts
  • Developing and managing a globally dispersed team that represents a diverse mix of cultures
  • Fostering strong relationships with SustainCERT to deliver on the shared objective to make credible impact quantification and certification mainstream

A naturally confident and empathetic leader, this unique role requires an individual to position themselves quickly in an established team. This role will suit an individual with demonstrable success in leading an organisation within the non-profit and/or for-profit space with a deep understanding of sustainable development.

Skills and capabilities include:

  • Successful track record of organisational leadership, having developed robust operations and governance structures within non-profit or for-profit organisations
  • Deep knowledge of and a passion for sustainable development, with experience in carbon markets, environmental finance and driving implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) being beneficial
  • Demonstrable success in fundraising and revenue generation
  • A global perspective and experience, with the ability to harmonise a diverse, international teams
  • Outstanding relationship management, communication and presentation skills
